Has anyone ever been? Tickets are a bit steep for just a lark ($30) but then again there are lots of cars, some of them even cool!

I’ve been several times. It’s a blast! You basically walk down aisles of cars, some collector-worthy, some laughably overvalued by the sellers . Whenever you want, you can walk over and watch the bidding for vehicles and see what the buyers think.
It’s not as high-end as, say, Barrett-Jackson, but Mecum pulls in some nice rides on their own.

Never done Mecum but have gone to Auburn Labor Day several times it is often a chance to see some really rare stuff before it gets locked away in a private collection

They are in Schaumburg towards the end of October!
I’m planning on going. I last went years ago when it was at Pheasant Run in St Charles .

I have gone. Totally worth the $30. (T hough for some reason I remember it being $20 when I went a few years ago. $30 is still worth it.)
I was surprised by how small the stage/bidding area looks in real life. It looks so much bigger on TV!
Huge range of stuff to check out! If you get a bidder’s pass, I think you can actually get in the cars and check them out more “ thoroughly. ” ;)
